Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows direct visualization of the inside of the uterus using a thin telescope-like instrument called a hysteroscope. It is performed for both diagnostic and operative purposes.
Indications:
- Abnormal uterine bleeding
- Thickened endometrium
- Fibroids or polyps
- Septum or congenital uterine anomalies
- Infertility workup
- Removal of IUCD
- Evaluation of recurrent pregnancy loss
Depending on the findings, the surgeon can:
- Examine the lining
- Take a biopsy
- Remove polyps or fibroids
- Correct uterine septum
- Retrieve foreign bodies
