Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows direct visualization of the inside of the uterus using a thin telescope-like instrument called a hysteroscope. It is performed for both diagnostic and operative purposes.

Indications:

  • Abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Thickened endometrium
  • Fibroids or polyps
  • Septum or congenital uterine anomalies
  • Infertility workup
  • Removal of IUCD
  • Evaluation of recurrent pregnancy loss

Depending on the findings, the surgeon can:

  • Examine the lining
  • Take a biopsy
  • Remove polyps or fibroids
  • Correct uterine septum
  • Retrieve foreign bodies
